What Is The PSA Program?
Youth Stories. Real Issues. Professional Films.
The PSA Project is a youth-led storytelling initiative that guides students through the process of:
Identifying social issues that impact their lives and communities
Developing original story ideas and scripts
Collaborating with professional directors and film crews
Participating in real film productions
Engaging in screenings and public discussions
These are not classroom exercises.
These are real films with real impact.
“In Soup” is a short film from the What’s Up Nigeria? series, an initiative that explores real-life situations through film, inviting audiences to ask themselves a simple but powerful question: What would you do?
Why this matters.
Young people are often spoken about, but rarely given the tools to speak for themselves.
Through the PSA Program, students:
Build confidence and creative voice
Develop storytelling and production skills
Learn to engage critically with the world around them
See their ideas brought to life at a professional level
This is about more than filmmaking.
It’s about agency, expression, and influence.
We partner with select schools each year to deliver this program.

Students begin by exploring real challenges within their communities, transforming these insights into original stories and scripts with guidance from experienced mentors. Selected projects are then produced by professional Nigerian directors, with students actively participating in the filmmaking process both behind and in front of the camera. Each film culminates in a public screening and panel discussion, creating space for reflection and dialogue, before being shared with partners, sponsors, and film festivals to extend its reach and impact.
